A group from St. Peter Cathedral led by the Dean of Waikato, The Very Rev’d Peter Rickman visited the St. Basil Church Batu Kawah on 2nd September 2017 at 5 pm. Accompanying the Group during the visit was the Asst. Bishop the Very Rev’d Aeries Sumping Jingan.
On hand to welcome the delegation was the Priest-in-charge of St. Basil , the Ven. Rev’d Jos Jol and his assistant priest, Rev’d Moses and other church PCC and Lay leaders who were dressed in Iban traditional head gears and dresses. Men and women dancers performed the traditional Dayak dances as they welcomed the New Zealanders at the gate of the church who were also entertained with the dayak wine or Tuak as they proceeded into the Church.
Among the programmes during the visit were pictures taking, dayak traditional dances performance and exchanges of souvenirs by the priests in charge, the Ven. Rev’d Jos Jol to the Dean, the Very Rev’d Peter Rickman and his delegation. The Dean, the Very Rev’d Peter Rickman also presented his gift to the Ven. Rev’d Jos Jol as a memento of their visit. The Church members also celebrated the birthdays of Rev’d Jos Jol and Rev’d Moses during the occasion.
The guests were also treated with a sumptuous dinner and other entertainment programmes during the evening.
The Asst. Bishop, the Very Rev’d Aeries Sumping Jingan was invited to recite grace for the dinner.
