The Earth Breaking Ceremony For The New Building of The House of The Epiphany Kuching
The earth breaking ceremony for The House of the Epiphany, the theological college for the Anglican Diocese of Kuching was held on 24th February 2019 at 10.30am at the compound of the present House of Epiphany. The new building will sit on the same site of the existing building which was completed in 1953.
The ceremony was officiated by the Honourable Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development and Minister in-charge of Unit of Other Religions (UNIFOR). A dedication service for the site was conducted by Rt. Revd. Danald Jute, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kuching.
During the function, the Deputy Chief Minister presented a cheque amounting to RM 7.0 million as a financial support from the Sarawak State Government to the Diocese of Kuching for the rebuilding of the HOE.
The ceremony was also attended by the Director of UNIFOR, Datu Dr. Ngenang Jangu; Rt. Revd. Nelson Ugas Bulang, the Assistant Bishop of Kuching; former Bishop Datuk Bolly Lapok; and former Assistant Bishop Solomon Cheong.
The Chairman of Sarawak Buddhist Association, Datuk Tay Chin Chin was also present. During lunch, Datuk Tay Chin Chin pledged to donate RM20 thousand towards the HOE rebuilding fund.
A total of over 200 people attended the event. The ceremony ended after lunch at around 1:00 pm.
