DIOCESAN CLERGY ANNUAL RETREAT

(11th – 14th September 2013)

 

The Diocesan Clergy Annual Retreat this year was held at the Damai Beach Resort, Kuching from the 11th to 14th September 2013. It was a residential package where all the Clergy from the Lower and Upper Southern Archdeaconry, Central Archdeaconry and Northern Archdeaconry were at the Damai Beach Resort to register and check-in at 2.00 pm on 11th September 2013. During the evening on the same day, the Welcoming Dinner was held at 6.30 pm followed by the Welcoming Address by The Archbishop of the Anglican Provinces of South East Asia, the Most Revd Datuk Bolly Lapok who is also the Bishop of the Diocese of Kuching and Brunei Darussalam.  The evening ended with the “Compline”.

The Retreat Conductor for this year retreat was the Venerable Martin Gray, a retired Archdeacon of Norfolk of Norwich, England. The President of the Diocesan Women’s Fellowship, Mdm. Mitty Chai spoke on the activities carried out by the Diocesan Women’s Fellowship in one of the sessions while the Assistant Bishop, The Right Reverend Aeries Sumping Jingan was the moderator of the discussion at the last session.

The retreat ended with the Morning Prayer and Holy Communion Service on 14th September 2013. The Archbishop of the Anglican Provinces of South East Asia, The Most Revd Datuk Bolly Lapok also gave away the “Love Gift” for the Retreat Conductor, the Venerable Martin Gray while Reverend John Shim Kim Chai gave away the “Love Gift” to the Madam Mitty Chai, The President of the Diocesan Women’s Fellowship (DWF).

Also during the Clergy Retreat, “Love Gifts” were handed to the Reverend John Shim Kim Chai who retired on the 11th September 2013 which happened to be the first day of the retreat and Reverend Howell Najod  who retired on 11th October 2013 by The Most Revd Datuk Bolly Lapok, The Archbishop of the Anglican Provinces of South East Asia.
