CLERGY WIVES RETREAT AT BORNEO HIGHLAND RESORT 20-22.7.2019
PRECIOUS UNTO THE LORD
The Diocese of Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam organised the 1st Clergy Wives Retreat at the Borneo Highlands Resort from 20th to 22nd July 2019 with the theme “Precious Unto the Lord” .
A total of forty seven wives of the clergies from the various parishes in Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam joined together to celebrate this special occasion for the first time in the history of the Anglican community with three objectives :
- To value the clergy wives as a critical and important element in our diocesan life
- To appreciate them as the solid “silent/background” partner of their husband’s ministry
- To minister to/encourage them the Word of God
Invited resource team are from SPECS, Eti Biswas, Jap Siew Moi , Ruth Rossa Raimin, Theresa Simon and Seria Empikau preaching on the Word of God and be the facilitator for the various workshop during the 3 days retreat while the working team from Diocese Kuching organising and running the programs are Ruth Mason, Natalie Kong, Charis S., Lene L , Sylvia F., Shirley G.S, Dona P. and Ernest P (the musician).
The opening day on 20th July 2019 started with a welcoming lunch with Asst. Bishop the Rt. Rev’d Nelson Ugas reciting the Grace. Bishop of Diocese Kuching, the Rt. Rev’d Danald Jute welcomed all the participants to this special retreat. The Chairlady Julita Jack also spoke on the objective of this occasion.
After the lunch, all the participants were presented with a gift as a remembrance of this special occasion to cherish in their life.
During the three days, various programmes and workshop were conducted by the speakers. Programmes included workshop on the theme “We are precious”, “ A time to interact with the bishops”, “Becoming a pearl”, “Women in the Bible”, short tropical sharing by the participants and “Intimacy with God”. Sunday service was conducted in the morning with the participants and Bishop Danald and assist. Bishop Nelson Ugas.
Bishop Danald concluded the closing session on the last day, 22nd July 2019 with a lunch before the participants bade farewell to one another.
